This town hall is ideal for members who are putting the final polish on their CSM 2027 abstract and want to make sure its take-home message is clear to reviewers and members. We will review the characteristics and expectations of each abstract category, discuss the APTA’s review criteria, identify common reasons for abstract rejection, and provide time for open Q&A.

Barbara Smith, PhD, PT

Dr. Barbara Smith is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Florida. She completed her entry-level degree from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida. A clinician-scientist with >25 years of experience in the ICU setting, Dr. Smith focuses her expertise on respiratory motor control and rehabilitation effects of respiratory strength training in people with breathing insufficiency. Dr. Smith serves as the Co-Chair of the Research Committee for the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy.
