Oncologic emergencies are acute, life-threatening conditions that arise in cancer patients due to the disease itself or its treatment. These include metabolic crises like hypercalcemia and tumor lysis syndrome, hematologic complications such as febrile neutropenia and disseminated intravascular coagulation, as well as structural issues like spinal cord compression and superior vena cava syndrome.

Akanksha Sharma, PT, is a Board-Certified Specialist in Oncologic Physical Therapy and Certified Lymphedema Therapist with a passion for helping people thrive during and after cancer treatment. She completed her residency at Baylor Scott & White’s Sammons Cancer Center, where she gained hands-on experience working with cancer patients on their recovery journeys. She has presented her researches at various national and international conferences
