The active leg raise (ALR) test is simple, brief, and informative to any physical therapy practitioner practicing in the acute care setting. It addresses the clinical question encountered by acute care therapy clinicians: "Is it reasonable to attempt to help this patient stand on their feet?" Come and attend this useful journal club presentation to learn more about the ALR test!

Learning goals:

At the end of this presentation, the attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the purpose of the active leg raise test
  2. Identify the psychometric properties of the test.
  3. Apply the psychometric properties to scenarios in order to deepen their understanding of the test's usefulness and limitations.
